Counting Down From 10

My evening looked a lot different this time yesterday.

With class, and a trip to a far far away art museum on the books, I was just planning on posting the Premiere Post for ::

The Great Gatsby Countdown L O G O

and then curling up with a cup of tea and my book!

WELL :: Class was cancelled. I found energy. And suddenly my subconscious reminded me that The Great Gatsby movie premiere was happening in the city tonight.

SO I flew on the wings of doves over to the Lincoln Center to brave the crowds to try and get in on the premiere.

With so much hype over the entire affair that is the movie it was really exciting to feel in the thick of it.

So whether you feel like humoring me or not :: scroll on for some exciting out-of-focus shots of some of the film’s stars ::

Here we go:

IMG_5808Jackie :: I can offer no better shot of Marcus Mumford. But know it was worth being elbowed repeatedly in the back of the head.

Also. That girl mean-muggin’. YES!

Mrs. Mumford. hehe. The lovely Carey Mulligan :: The Reincarnation of Daisy Buchanan

IMG_5907This is Amitabh Bachchan [a very popular Bollywood star] who is playing Meyer Wolfsheim. Doesn’t it look like he is staring into your soul?

There was an intensely tall indian man next to me that was more excited to see him than anyone was to see Leonardo DiCaprio. #impressive.

There will be no apologizing for the quality.

Leonardo Babyface Heartthrob DiCaprio. Enough said.

IMG_5992The entirety of Lincoln Center plaza was taken over by the excitement. Though I’m not a fan of our culture’s obsession with celebrities :: I will say this ::

It was exciting to be excited about seeing the actors that I’ve been emotionally attached to for years. There is something to be said for an artist that can make you feel something from the disconnected screen :: that someone’s story, their art, their work can jump out of a flat screen and into the dimensions of the mind.

That :: and I was able to reassure myself that maybe James Cameron did catch the wrong moment and that Rose did in fact scoot over to make room for poor, freezing, in love Jack Dawson.

I found Jack tonight. And I have blurry pictures of him. And for that: I will not apologize.

To cleanse your palette:

Stay Tuned to BH.GT. Because Guess What? Everyday until the premiere for the masses :: BH.GT is bringing you more Gatsby Greatness

This is only the beginning of ::

The Great Gatsby Countdown L O G O

And with May 1st practically gone :: We only have 8 more days ::

As a total Amitabh Bachchan fan, your observations about him – and the photo you provided – are much appreciated. :)
